Couch's kingbird        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The Couch's kingbird strongly resembles the closely-related western and Cassin's kingbirds.   The slightly notched brown tail, which is vaguely apparent in this picture, is one distinguishing feature of Couch's, as is its larger bill and different voice.   In the US, Couch's is a south Texas speciality.  I took this photograph on a ranch near Roma, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley.
