Among the largest of hummingbirds and (in males) a brilliant glittering blue-green with purple-blue highlights, great sapphirewings are impressive and obvious (females have rust-colored undersides). They were quite common near feeders at a hot springs resort on the slopes below Los Nevados National Park near Manizales, Colombia. |
