Eastern rosella        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Eastern rosellas are small parrots that are common in woodlands in eastern Australia.   They are a 'white-cheeked' rosella, and are on of those birds that is so colorful it is almost garish.   I photographed these in various places in the small city of Wollongong, on the southeast coast of New South Wales.
