Augur buzzards are large buteos (soaring hawks) from the plains and mountains of Africa. They strongly resemble the North American red-tailed hawk in size and habits (and even have a red tail), and in having both light (at left) and dark (at right) color morphs. These buzzards was sitting along the roadside, on the ground or atop a thorn tree, in Nairobi National Park, Kenya. |
