Crested pigeons are charming birds found in both wild areas and in cities.   Like many Australian pigeons, they have iridescent metallic patches in their wings; these can only be seen 'in color' in good light (look at the difference in the last two photos, which were taken seconds apart).   I took the photos at the Fowlers Gap research station in northwest New South Wales.
