Sheathbills are unusual charadriforms (relatives of gulls and shorebirds), with two species living around Antarctica in the Southern Ocean. They are opportunistic scavengers on seabird and pinniped colonies. This bird lived on Cormorant Island near Palmer Station, Antarctica.
