Wilson's plovers are medium-sized shorebirds with considerably larger bills than their relatives, the semipalmated and snowy plovers.   I took these pictures of overwintering birds at Honeymoon Island State Park and Fort DeSoto Park on the Gulf Coast of southern Florida.   Some were rather sleepy when I was photographing them even though I was quite close.
