Tufted puffin        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Islands in the Bering Sea support huge populations of seabirds (although many are in serious decline, possibly due to overfishing).   These tufted puffins were photographed on Saint Paul Island in the Pribilofs, off western Alaska.   They share this island with many other seabirds including the closely related horned puffin.   This page shows winter-plumaged birds.
