Caspian terns are easily identified by their large size, big red bills, and loud calls. Breeding adults have neat black caps; winter birds have white caps and black on the face and nape; youngsters show some brownish in the plumage. Forster's terns are found throughout much of the world. These pictures were taken in Carmel and Moss Landing, California.
