Franklin's gulls are small black-headed birds (in breeding season) that nest on lakes and ponds in the northwestern US and southern Canada. I photographed these at Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge in southeastern Idaho as they flew along a canal. The bird on the water was a long way off at the Salton Sea in southern California. |
