WIlson's storm petrel
Images copyright by Mark A. Chappell

The dainty little Wilson's storm petrel is one of the most abundant birds, with millions nesting around the Antarctic continent and nearby islands. It also is a prodigious migrant, flying well up into the north Atlantic basin during the Austral winter. This bird was picking up small food particles in Arthur Harbor, near the U.S. research base at Palmer Station, off the Antarctic Peninsula.
