Chestnut teal

Australia has a rich avifauna, but to my mind it is rather depauperate in ducks and geese.   This is one of the more colorful of Australian ducks, the chestnut teal.   As is the case with many ducks, males are more brightly colored than females (upper right).   I took the photos in Wollongong, on the coast of New South Wales near Wollongong.
