Australasian grebe

These attractive little grebes are found in New Zealand, New Guinea, and other areas besides Australia, but it was always interesting to find them on small stock-watering reservoirs deep in the arid Outback. These pictures were taken on such a pond at Fowlers Gap research station in the northwest corner of New South Wales.
