Bluebonnets and paintbrush

There were huge fields of brilliant wildflowers in south Texas in March of 2003. The most abundant were bluebonnets (a lupine) and a red paintbrush. Some of these displays -- like this one, photographed south of San Antonio -- stretched almost to the horizon.
