Nature photography
The central coastal region of California -- San Francisco Bay, Monterey County, etc. -- is a special place for me, since I grew up and went to school there. This is a much photographed region and a number of photographic giants have worked it extensively (Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and so forth). These pictures avoid most of the classic scenes, but represent the essence of the place for me.
