Fireweed (Epilobium) grows in abundance over most of Alaska, with such vigor that some regard it as a weed.   Most of these blossoms were growing on a steep hillside near timberline, about 1000 m above the town of Skagway. The pictures at upper and lower right were taken in (or near) Denali National Park
