The two cow moose above were photographed a few km north of the town of Homer, Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula (famous for big moose). The relaxed moose was sitting in the garden of a B&B we stayed at; periodically it would slurp up a mouthful of fireweed flowers. The bulls were photographed in Denali National Park. The one below at left (still with unfinished antlers in 'velvet') was photographed in rain at a considerable distance; I'm not sure if I like or hate the rainy effect. The other bull, with complete antlers, was even farther away on colorful autumn tundra. |
