Guenther Pass and Tom Miller are organizing a meeting for next year entitled "COMPARATIVE PHYSIOLOGY AND EVOLUTION OF ARTHROPOD CIRCULATORY SYSTEMS". In contrast to the Florence congress, the scope of this meeting will be widened to include all arthropods. The specific aim is to try to elucidate the evolutionary development of their circulatory systems along the background of the recent controvertsies on their relationships. There will be review contributions covering all high-rank arthropod taxa as well as contributions to some more specific circulatory topics.

The meeting will be part of the Second International Conference of Comparative Physiology & Biochemistry in Africa, taking place in Chobe/Botswana from 18.-24. August 2001.
