Juniper titmouse        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Juniper titmice (and their close relative, the oak titmouse) are plain but personable little birds found mainly in pinion-pine and juniper woodlands in the American southwest.   Both species were were split from the plain titmouse, which in turn is quite similar to the eastern tufted titmouse.  These were photographed in the White Mountains of eastern California and in Paradise, Arizona.
