Evening storm, Boulder-Escalante road        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The twisty, narrow highway between the small towns of Boulder and Escalante in central Utah is a spectacular drive in any weather, but particularly so when a big thundercloud over the sandstone canyons and mesas is illuminated by the setting sun. This scene cost me most of a roll of film, as I kept shooting over about half an hour as the light changed and the clouds moved.
